Delivery Driver Detained in Nancy Guthrie Case Released Without Charges

Carlos Palazuelos, 36, the delivery driver briefly held by police in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, has been released. The case, which has gripped the nation, is now entering its 11th day with investigators racing to uncover leads.

Palazuelos was picked up by law enforcement on February 10 while driving in Arizona. Authorities initially believed he might be linked to the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, but after hours of questioning, he was released without charges.

“I’ve never heard of Nancy or Savannah,” Palazuelos told reporters outside his home. “I don’t watch the news. They held me against my will, and they didn’t read me my rights until two hours later.”

He expressed frustration over the detention, insisting his innocence: “What the f**k am I doing here? I didn’t do anything. I’m innocent.”

DoorDash, where Palazuelos works, confirmed the company is cooperating with law enforcement. A company spokesperson said, “We are urgently investigating reports that a delivery driver was detained in relation to the Nancy Guthrie case. We have reached out to authorities and are ready to support the investigation in any way we can. Our hearts are with the Guthrie family during this difficult time.”

Palazuelos mentioned he may have delivered a package to Nancy Guthrie’s home on February 1, the same day she disappeared. “I hope they catch the real suspect,” he said. “I’m not it. They better find the person who did this to clear my name.”

The case remains tense. Two ransom notes demanding $6 million in bitcoin have already passed their deadlines. The FBI recently released new surveillance images showing a masked individual tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s front door video camera on the morning of her disappearance. The suspect was wearing a balaclava, gloves, a zipped jacket, and a backpack.

“Working with our partners, law enforcement has uncovered new images of an armed individual appearing to tamper with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door,” FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed, emphasizing that the investigation continues.
